What in the world is APTWEH?

Patrick Lalande on WordPress

When I made mention of the Aptera aptera_400x180.jpg in Everyone has a Prediction and suggested that

“the American muscle cars of New Millineum, the high-mpg, high-performance (Got to get on that highway!), high-capacity automobiles.”

was going to be America’s new export over the next 10 years,  I didn’t know about Jacob Gordon.  I’d been following the same trail he navigated but didn’t know it.

Since the beginning of January, when I started “A Mind’s Diet”, I have started to read some of his submissions to MSN.com and Jacob has come up with some very good ones.  My favorites include those I’ve listed below.  His latest ,

Loremo: The ‘Low Resistance Mobile’

At 150-miles-per-gallon, the Loremo wants to show how far a diesel can go.

introduces a car that I believe Americans will covet.  If not the car, the principles of Affordable,  Personal Transportation With Extreme High-mileage OR (APTWEH pronounced “apt’ way”)    The story represents the introduction to me and my readers, of another APTWEH.

The stories by Jacob Gordon have been chosen here to illustrate a pattern here that will see the United States into change that is happening throughout our  society.

It isn’t that society has changed so much but that capitalism has finally caught up to the transportation designers.  Especially visible in the car industry, this change is slowly rearing it’s head in other industries like aviation and railroads.  As we progress further into this change will this type of vehicle become the norm rather than an oddity?  Read Jacob’s stories below and then you tell me.

The World is Changing – The New American Muscle Car

High Mileage SUV

The world is changing.  That’s not a suprise, but the fact that visionaries have been working on projects that will transport us half way across the country on the same amount of gas it takes for a 1 week’s commute is refreshing.  In my new year article “Everyone has a Prediction” I referenced an Aptera.  This remarkable 230+ mpg two-seater should be making its debut in late 2008.

Today, I wake up to find to a press release from ASF Trinity Power Corp. about, “a medium-size family SUV designed to support a serious supermarket run or a family’s weekend recreational activities,” the XH-150 that sports a 150+ mpg.

The New American Muscle Car

Today, Americans have turned the ingenuity that produced the American muscle cars of the 1960’s towards the American muscle cars of New Millineum, the high-mpg, high-performance (Got to get on that highway!), high-capacity automobiles.  This is the technology that we will be exporting over the next 10 years.

Cool.  I salivate at the prospect of driving with such range and economy.  If any of these companies would like me to test their vehicles for a year I’d seriously consider it. I could guarantee it would go further than the 20,000 miles the average American drives.

I have always thought that the idea vehicle should be able to go about 1000 miles on a single tank of gas.  Soon I might realize that dream.

The world is changing and if these vehicles are any indication, the future looks very bright indeed.
